About Me
I visited Marquette Michigan to watch my brother play hockey for Northern Michigan University and was interviewed on the radio to talk to the play by play announcer about the 1st period of play. When the interview was over and commercials were playing on the air he offered me a job. I wasn't looking for one but we talked more over the next couple of weeks and decided to accept his offer as the 8th salesperson. It been 40 years now.
My Market
We are in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan on the shores of Lake Superior. There are 300,000 people in the entire peninsula and 60,000 live in Marquette County. Northern Michigan University is in Marquette. Tourism, Iron mining, nickel mining and forestry are important.
My Stations
Sold my two stations, WMQT & WZAM on June 1, 2022 to the Keweenaw Bay Indian Community. They added mine to stations they have owned and operated for many years. WCUP and WGLI.
WMQT is a Hot AC station. 100,000 watts. We cover 9 counties in Michigan and 2 counties in Wisconsin.
WZAM is an ESPN affiliate on 970am. It is paired with a 250 watt FM translator at 106.9fm.
WCUP is Eagle Country radio.
WGLI is the Rockin Eagle.
