About Me
I grew up talking on a CB radio at age of eight and then began a career in radio in 1970. I began as a board op/dj then became a play by play football, basketball, baseball and softball, (since 1975). 1976 UT Martin degree, moved to Kentucky and later became a News Director in 1977, General Manager 1981, Tennessee Associated Press Broadcaster of the Year 1982, President Thunderbolt Broadcasting since 1983, Tennessee Soybean Festival Hall of Fame 2018, Tennessee Journalism Hall of Fame 2019 and Weakley County Sports Hall of Fame 2021. Past President of the Tennessee Associated Press Broadcasters Association, Past Chairman of Tennessee Association of Broadcasters, recipient of the TAB Distinguished Service Award, Tennessee Radio Hall of Fame, Tennessee Journalism Hall of Fame, Tennessee Radio Hall of Fame and author of The Ready Book. Located in Northwest Tennessee situated near the Kentucky Tennessee state line, near Kentucky Lake and Reelfoot Lake (earthquake of 1811-1812). Tourism: Discovery Park of America Museum and recreation including fishing at the above lakes. Industry includes Kohler, Stanley Black & Decker (formerly MTD), Titan Tire, Williams Sausage, Champion Homes, Universal Forest Products and many others. Home of University of Tennessee at Martin, Agriculture: Corn and beans are in the top five in our county. Thunderbolt Broadcasting owns four commercial FM stations and one AM station. WCMT 1410 began broadcasting June17th, 1957 in Martin Tennessee. A second station went on the air in WCMT FM 1968 and a third WCDZ FM went on in 1991. Thunderbolt owns two radio stations in Union City, TN. They are KYTN FM and WQAK FM.
