About Me
I started in radio at age 26 by building a 100,000 watt FM station in Antigo, WI. I then purchased WERL in Eagle River, WI and build a 50,000 watt FM station, followed by acquiring WNBI in Park Falls and building another 100,000 watt FM. I was fortunate to buy a 3,000 watt FM in Algoma, WI, increased power to 25,000 and moved it to Sturgeon Bay where I added three additional 6kw FM’s and an HD station and translator. Every market in which I’ve operated has been so small the McDonald’s only had one arch.
Over the course of more than forty years our staff perfected the shopping show, or radio auction, and also pioneered making a radio station web site the newspaper of the future. DoorCountyDailyNews.com has been a model for many in our industry, providing radio stations an easily-duplicatable example of a radio station web site and an electronic newspaper that will surpass the subscription base of local newspapers.
In December of 2019 Bryan Mazur purchased the Door County radio stations and DoorCountyDailyNews.com and is taking them to another level by increasing sales and expanding the listenership.
By the way, Door County, Wisconsin is the Cape Cod of the Midwest and a great location for another Idea Bank convention.

Whenever I was about our formats I replied, “ads.” Radio ads were the most important component of our programming.
