ALAN BISHOP is President and owner of the Finger Lakes Radio Group which owns seven stations (WNYR, WLLW, WFLK, WGVA, WAUB, WFLR and WCGR) in the Finger Lakes region between Rochester and Syracuse. In addition he is President and owner of Chadwick Bay Broadcasting Corporation, licensee of WDOE and WBKX in Fredonia/Dunkirk/Jamestown. A professed radio "lifer" having started his career at the age of 15 in Bath, Maine, he has worked on-air in Maine, Syracuse, Rochester, Detroit, and Philadelphia as well as on Laser 558, a pirate radio ship off the coast of England in the mid-80's. Bishop began his sales career at WFTQ in Worcester, MA in the 80's and moved to management in Rochester. He is involved in many community and professional organizations having served as Chair of the Geneva Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, President of the Board of the International Broadcasters Idea Bank, Small Market Advisory Board for the NAB, Board of Directors of the Western New York Chapter of the Entrepreneurs’ Organization, and has been in Rotary and a board member of the Boys and Girls Club of Geneva. He was named General Manager of the Year in 2011 by Radio Ink Magazine. Alan is a 1982 graduate of Syracuse University with a BS in Business Management, lives in the Finger Lakes with his wife Lisa and has two grown children, Andy and Colleen.
