About Me
Started my radio career as a part-time weekend and overnight jock in Winona, Minnesota in the fall of 1991. By spring of 1992 I added sales to my list of duties simply because I wanted to make more money. Had solid early success that lead me to move to a larger market in Mankato, Minnesota in 1992. During my second year there I was promoted to sales manager at the age of 24. Wanting to continue my growth I moved once again to southwest Michigan with Mid-West Family. Stayed there for 4 years, but due to a stagnation in growth I moved again, this time to Grand Forks, North Dakota to become their General Sales Manager. I was there for 2 years, but was lured back to Mid-West Family's Springfield, Illinois operation where I was Director of Sales for the next 8 years. In the spring of 2010 I seized the opportunity to become President and General Manager of Mid-West Family's southwest Michigan operation, where I remain to this day.
My Market
We are a series of small towns in southwest Michigan on the shores of Lake Michigan. Though Whirlpool Corporation is located here, the economy is primarily driven by tourism. We operate 7 radio stations, as well as two news based apps/websites and a popular e-commerce website. Though we are the dominant media operator in our market, we also receive media from Chicago, South Bend, Kalamazoo and Grand Rapids who surround us.
