About Me
I sold WBTA is 2023 to Jim Ernst, an Account Executive who had been with me for eight years. Jim is now the reporting member for WBTA but I am staying on as a "consultant." Officially, I am retired.
Started in 1970 as a DJ on a 5KW country station in Central New York State (Utica)
Joined WKSN/WHUG in Jamestown, NY in 1973 and stayed for 30 years. Started as New Director and left at V.P of broadcast for family-owned company, in charge of five stations in southwest, New York State.
My Market
Batavia is a city of 15,000 in a county (Genesee) of 59,000. Located exactly between Buffalo and Rochester, NY
County is a major agricultural and dairy area.
My Stations
WBTA went on the air on February 6, 1941. It has operated under the same set of call letters since it's inception.
The first 3 months of its existence the station was on 1500kz before it changed to 1490kz where it has been ever since.
FM translators were added under my ownership in 2015 and 2020.
