This award is given in memory of the late Betty Simpson and the late Cary Simpson, both of whom devoted their lives to helping their local community, especially through the power of radio. Since the International Broadcasters’ Idea Bank supports community involvement as a primary means to assure the future of local radio, this award is given annually for an event, program, or promotion fulfilling this goal. The winner gets a cash award in the form of an IBIB check. If we have ten or more entries the runner up will also get a cash award.
This is a single promotion to be considered, the award is not year-round station performance.
While a sales element could be included, sales revenue is important but not a factor in judging, soley as the community involvement.
Judging will include, but not limited to:
- The purpose of the promotion
- The spirit of community service the event/promotion shows
- The creativity by the station shown
- The uniqueness of the event/promotion
- Results of the promotion/event
- The ability to replicate something similar at other stations.

- Audio recordings, if any, may not exceed one minutes may be attached as well.
Additional RULES:
- Only website entries accepted. The entry is considered your topic of the month contribution for Jan or Feb 2024.
- Deadline for Entries is March 20, 2024, 6PM eastern time.
- Only one promotion per member is allowed. Multiple station owners may enter only once. There is no entry fee.
- The station must have been an active IBIB member during the promotion.
- The promotion must have been completed any time in the 12 months of 2023.
- The Executive Director shall select at least three judges who have no interest in the outcome.
- The winner will be announced at the Spring Convention 2024. The winner gets a permanent recognition plaque plus $1,000 cash, – an IRS Form 1099 will be issued to the recipient if an individual as designated by the member).
